Zero-Knowledge Architecture Notice

CloakBin uses zero-knowledge encryption. We cannot view the contents of pastes. However, we take copyright infringement seriously and will remove reported pastes that violate copyright law.

Overview

CloakBin respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects our users to do the same. We respond to valid DMCA takedown notices in accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512).

If you believe content hosted on CloakBin infringes your copyright, you may submit a takedown notice following the procedure below.

Filing a DMCA Takedown Notice

To file a valid DMCA takedown notice, you must include the following information:

1. Identification of Copyrighted Work

Describe the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed. If multiple works, provide a representative list.

2. Identification of Infringing Material

Provide the full URL of the infringing paste (e.g., https://cloakbin.com/abc123#key). We need the complete link including the encryption key to verify.

3. Your Contact Information

  • Full legal name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Physical mailing address

4. Good Faith Statement

Include this statement: "I have a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law."

5. Accuracy Statement

Include this statement: "The information in this notification is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, I am the copyright owner or authorized to act on behalf of the owner."

6. Physical or Electronic Signature

Provide your physical or electronic signature (typed name is acceptable for email).

Please use the subject line "DMCA Takedown Notice" to ensure prompt processing.

Our Response Process

Upon receiving a valid DMCA notice:

  1. We will review the notice for completeness
  2. We will access the paste using the provided URL and key to verify the claim
  3. If valid, we will remove or disable access to the infringing material
  4. We will notify the user who created the paste (if account exists)
  5. We will respond to you confirming the takedown

Processing Time: We aim to process valid DMCA notices within 48-72 hours. Emergency requests for highly sensitive material may be expedited.

Counter-Notice Procedure

If you believe your paste was wrongly removed due to a DMCA notice, you may file a counter-notice containing:

  • Your contact information (name, email, address, phone)
  • Identification of the removed material and its former location
  • A statement under penalty of perjury that the material was removed by mistake or misidentification
  • Your consent to jurisdiction of federal court
  • Your physical or electronic signature

Repeat Infringer Policy

We will terminate accounts of users who are repeat copyright infringers. Users with multiple validated DMCA notices will have their accounts permanently suspended.

False Claims & Penalties

Warning: Filing false DMCA notices is illegal and can result in legal penalties.

Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), anyone who knowingly materially misrepresents that material is infringing may be liable for damages, including costs and attorney fees.

Please ensure your claim is accurate before filing.
